ODeL stands for Open, Distance, and e-Learning. In plain terms, it means teaching and running a school, course, or training program online, instead of (or alongside) a physical classroom.
There are no strict walls to get in. Students do not need to be on campus or in one fixed location to start learning.
Students and teachers do not need to be in the same room, or even the same city, for classes to happen.
Lessons, tests, certificates, and communication all happen through a website, app, or online platform.
Put together, a school or organization running ODeL puts its lessons, assignments, tests, certificates, and student records online. Students can join, learn, and graduate without ever needing to sit in a physical classroom. Many institutions also mix this with some in-person classes, which is usually called a blended or hybrid model.
You want to offer degrees or courses to students who will never set foot on campus.
You already teach in person but want a proper online side, not just a few shared documents and group chats.
You need to train, test, and certify people online in a way that is easy to track and manage.
A clear place where students access lessons, videos, and materials without confusion.
Students get graded, progress gets recorded, and certificates get issued automatically when they finish.
Rules for who can join, what they can see, and how payments or approvals work, set up correctly from the start.
